We encourage Residents to personalise their room with their own pictures, furniture and ornaments for familiarity and to create a homely space that they feel at ease with.

Many thanks to you and your team at Browhill, it was good to know that my wife was in a safe place and being well cared for. I can say having visited many care homes in Guernsey, that the wing in which she was accommodated, is one of the best facilities on Island and must be much appreciated by not only the residents but also the carers.

Relative

Life in the Home

We are committed to supporting our Residents to continue living life in the way that they choose to, with as much or as little support that they need. We want them to feel comfortable and at home right from the start.

It’s all about you

Right from the start, our Healthcare Team gets to know the Resident and support network to understand their care needs.  Additionally, we begin by putting together a ‘life story’ document, which works together with a tailored care plan to communicate to the healthcare team the individual’s wishes and what is important to them.

We do understand that moving to an unfamiliar environment can be difficult, so we encourage Residents to bring familiar items with them and we strive to personalise the rooms to the individual’s wishes.

We endeavour to create a bespoke model of care which provides genuine home-like environments, so that Residents can enjoy enriched and full lives. Our 24-hour Healthcare Team take an flexible approach, reacting to the changing care needs of the individual ensuring that they feel safe and well cared for.

Wellbeing & Activities

We offer a fully tailored activities programme, created around each individual Resident to help them to be physically active, mentally stimulated and socially connected. We engage with our local community inside and outside of the Home, offering weekly tours around the island to points of interest and events either with one member of staff or as a group using our company minibus. We also welcome local schools and community groups into our settings for regular visits. Our Residents also enjoy home from home activities, such as spending time in our beautiful gardens attending to wheelchair accessible raised beds, or other craft activities within the Home such as crochet, painting or seasonal projects which are displayed around the Home.

Our Residents benefit from regular visits from the hairdresser and chiropodist as well as receiving in-house salon treatments such as aromatherapy massage and manicures, which are relaxing and maintains self-confidence.

Although personal pets can only be accommodated under the Home Manager’s discretion, CI Healthcare understands the benefits of therapy animals in the Home, for those who enjoy the company of animals.

We host regular parties and social occasions for the Residents, inviting family and friends to join us for celebrations throughout the year.

Meals & Dining

All of our Homes have a dining room where residents if they so choose, can enjoy fresh, seasonal, local produce. Our menu is changed routinely to take advantage of the various festivities of the season and always includes a dish of the day with an additional choice. Of course, any special dietary needs can always be catered for and requests are encouraged. Our Head Chef will regularly visit the Residents, to enquire whether they have enjoyed their meal and discuss suggestions for the forthcoming menus.
Residents can feel free to dine in their own room or in one of the communal areas where our team will be on hand to encourage and assist where necessary.
Family and friends are always welcome to dine with us.
Hot and cold drinks are available freely throughout the day with alcoholic beverages served at lunch and suppertime on request.
Breakfast, morning tea/coffee and biscuits, lunch, afternoon tea with homemade cake, supper and evening drinks will be offered daily however, mealtimes are flexible and scheduled around the Residents.

Our aim is to provide a safe, stimulating and caring environment for our Residents

We do this by; selecting the right people to work in our homes, ensuring that each location provides high quality yet comfortable surroundings and that the needs of our Residents are at the centre of everything that we do.

We expect professionalism at all times and we support our staff to feel confident, by equipping them with the right skills and training for their role.

We look for dynamic individuals who bring value to both the Residents and everyone around them. We encourage our staff to always be thinking of new ways to enhance the experiences and lives of the people they are caring for, whether this is through tailored activity programmes or the holistic approach they follow on a daily basis.
